2007 Year In Review

Late? Who me? Never! Well, I can make excuses like the best of them. It’s the same as last year except I do have one new one. My birthday comes mid November and from that day until after New Year’s we have family events non-stop. We, of course, celebrate my birthday, and then we have Thanksgiving, then my Mom’s birthday, Christmas, and New Year’s. Those aren’t just simple events in our family. For every event we have my family, Chris’s mom, Chris’s grandma, Chris’s granddad, Chris’s dad, and sometimes more. So, yes we get at least 4 Thanksgiving dinners and Christmas get-togethers if not more.

I am still working as the bookkeeper for New Testament Church Planting. It keeps me busy. I do enjoy helping out in that area and now that I have it organized I would have to give it up to someone who wouldn’t do near the job I do.

So, now to the Annual Update…Dylan turned 2 in February and as I am writing this we are preparing for his 3rd birthday this coming Saturday. Last birthday we did a train theme because he was really into trains and that phase still comes and goes on occasion. Our last month or so we have been on a kick of race cars. Right before Christmas Dylan was into monster trucks for a long time. He’s your typical boy who loves to wrestle, run, jump, be loud, and compete for attention. That’s a new one for us since he was our only child until July. We’ll get to that later.

In May we decided we better take a small vacation get-away because it would be the last for just the 3 of us and our vacationing wouldn’t be so easy any time soon. We took off to Branson for a few days, did some shopping, went to Celebration City, swam at Grand Country Inn Hotel, and lots of other stuff. Dylan had a great time. The water was still a little cool but we enjoyed it.
Since we have been married, Chris has always had the 2nd car. When we got married he was still driving his 1969 Cougar. A couple years into marriage, we bought a new car. I drove it and he got my Camry. Then, a couple years later, we bought a Highlander for me and he got the other car. But this year was different. Chris has been dreaming about driving a big “manly” truck since we got married and he finally got exactly what he wanted minus the saddle leather seats. He is driving a 2004 4x4 Ford F-150 Super Crew Cab 4-door with tinted windows and a huge tool box in the back that is painted black to match the truck. Then, he went out and bought a state-of-the-art Bluetooth wireless, GPS, radio, DVD, CD player and installed it. He has it all! You know he needed that GPS for his 10 mile trip to and from work because that’s the only place he drives since gas is outrageous! But, I was very happy for him and in fact encouraged him to buy this so he could finally see what his hard work has earned. It is really nice and I enjoy an occasional ride in it.

Eli Hunter Beeson was born 7/7/07 at 10:31 a.m. in Delivery Room #7 at St. John’s Hospital weighing in at 7 lbs. and 5 oz. The doctor said somebody should have put some socks on that boy before weighing him because he would have had to be the luckiest baby every born if he would have been 7 lbs. 7 oz. My doctor from Malaysia, I think, so he has Chinese background and 2007 was the year of the pig. I know that doesn’t sound so great but in Chinese culture that is the best of the best. People were scheduling weddings and trying to purposely get pregnant in order to have a child during the year of the pig. Nevertheless, he is growing like a weed. He still isn’t crawling but I foresee it in his near future. He gets really frustrated when he’s on his hands and knees but can’t go anywhere so I’m hoping his frustration will motivate him.

In August we started Dylan potty training. It didn’t take as long as I thought to get the concept in his head. I just kept thinking I was the one being potty trained, not him. I was the one who did all the work and had to take him. It will pay off in the end, though. I know. Now, he tells me when he has to go and he runs in there himself. I still have to help pull his pants up when he’s done and if he has a snap or zipper I have to be there to pull them down. He’s got the rest! I’m so glad that’s over and not at all looking forward to doing it again. Although, I will because diaper changing isn’t something I want to do forever either.

Chris went to the Missionary Retreat without me this year. With Eli only being 3 weeks old I didn’t think the people in our building would appreciate a crying baby 2 or 3 times in the middle of the night. My Mom came out to stay with me. She even took a whole evening shift where I got a full night of rest. Now, that was nice. My Mom is the great Mom ever, though. She really babied me the whole week. I got naps and she helped cook all the meals. It was great! I missed Chris, but she sure made the week a lot better.
In October our church held our first ever Home Missions Conference. We brought in several new Pastors starting new works from all around the U.S.A. Our church, personally, gave out over $10,000. It was great to be a blessing in so many different pastors’ lives. They presented their work and their need and our church, as well as many others around, helped supply those particular needs. We’re already planning our second one for the same time this year.

I pretty much already told you about November on. I won’t go into detail, but we sure keep busy. I used to make fun of my sister-in-law. You would ask her if she could do something and I’d give her a date and she would say “I’ll have to check my calendar”. I could never imagine how anyone could have so much going on. Well, I’m that way now. Since the beginning of this year, we haven’t stopped going and I don’t think it’s going to quit any time soon. I guess that’s why time flies so fast.

Sorry for the delay in the update. Better late than never! It was great to hear from those of you that wrote at Christmas. Enjoy what is left of 2008. We sure will!
